Ajax is a new label to describe rich,desktop-like internet applications that run in standard web browsers amd do not require any special plugins.Its popularity stems from high-profile Ajax applications like Gmail,Google Maps and 37signal's basecmap,and it is becomeing popular in the enterprise as well.The technology lets them take great leap forth towards the richness of standard desktop applications,and in a manner which still respects the established conventions of the web.
